Abbaye de Valloires
Discover the magnificent gardens and abbey located a stone's throw from the bay of Somme.
Abbaye de Valloires in Argoules is the only complete 18th century Cistercien abbey in France.
First founded in the 12th century by the monks of Citeaux, it was completely rebuilt following numerous historic events. It is a fine example of Baroque art thanks to the Austrian sculptor Pfaffenhoffen.
After visiting the abbey, you can take a stroll around the superb gardens. 5000 species of ancient roses and rare shrubs located within a 22-acre park blend together harmoniously creatiing a spectacular sight.
Throughout the year the gardens set the scene for daytime entertainment such as the "day of the ladybird" or "the day of artists".
